Matherne Instrumentation’s deflection weight indication system is designed to give accurate readings on small to medium drilling and workover rigs.
Weight indicators are designed to measure the "Weight on the Bit" (WOB) reading, or the amount of downward force of gravity exerted by a rig to provide force for the drill bit to be able to effectively break the rock. During the drilling process, the weight of the assembly is carefully measured and monitored while the drill bit is just off the bottom of the well. Measuring WOB is essential to safe and accurate drilling, as it makes sure that the well deepens as drilling continues. If the WOB is greater than the optimum value, the chance of damaging the drill bit becomes higher; the drill string could even buckle. If the WOB is less than optimal, the rate of penetration slows down and drilling performance won't meet standards. Accurately measuring the WOB will maximize the rate of penetration and allow drilling to proceed efficiently. Our deflection indicator systems help provide accurate readings and streamline your site's workflow.
The system includes 12” deflection indicator mounted in a steel box, 10 dial set for use with different wire line sizes and lines strung, standard 25’ hose, and deflection loadcell with c-clamp. This weight indication device is portable, durable, and ready to be placed on the drill line instantly.
